Preamble
The localtimestamp PostgreSQL function returns the current date and time.
Syntax of the PostgreSQL localtimestamp function
localtimestamp( [ precision ] )
Parameters and function arguments
- It is optional. The number of digits for rounding the fractional seconds to.
Note:
- The localtimestamp function returns the current date in ‘YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.US’ format.
- Do not put brackets () after the localtimestamp function unless a precision is specified.
The localtimestamp function can be used in future versions of PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL 11, PostgreSQL 10, PostgreSQL 9.6, PostgreSQL 9.5, PostgreSQL 9.4, PostgreSQL 9.3, PostgreSQL 9.2, PostgreSQL 9.1, PostgreSQL 9.0, PostgreSQL 8.4.
