Preamble
PostgreSQL current_timestamp function returns the current date and time with the time zone.
Syntax of the current_timestamp function in PostgreSQL
current_timestamp( [ precision ] )
Parameters and function arguments
- It is optional. A number of digits for rounding to fractional seconds.
Note:
- The current_timestamp function returns the current date in ‘YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.US+TZ’ format.
- Do not put brackets () after the current_timestamp function if the precision parameter is not specified.
The current_timestamp function can be used in future versions of PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL 11, PostgreSQL 10, PostgreSQL 9.6, PostgreSQL 9.5, PostgreSQL 9.4, PostgreSQL 9.3, PostgreSQL 9.2, PostgreSQL 9.1, PostgreSQL 9.0, PostgreSQL 8.4.

--Result: 2019-04-23 11:13:17.21+03
SELECT current_timestamp(3);
--Result: 2019-04-23 11:13:29.5+03
